I’ve been smitten with Artful Blogging for a long time and was delighted when their editors reached out for a feature in print. If you pick up the Autumn 2015 issue of Artful Blogging, you’ll find if found, make. among a group of incredibly beautiful blogs (with seriously stunning photography) + stories from the writers/curators/artists behind them.
Um, isn’t it so me? I have quite a few new blogs to follow now too.
These photos are from different DIY projects you may have seen on the blog before. I also shared a few from my adventures (previously the ‘explore’ category) and yes, there’s even one of the first styled photos I’ve taken of some killer latte art I enjoyed at an LA cafe last year at about 7am, morning light filtering through the haze on Sunset boulevard and into my corner. I’ve been spending a few minutes each day taking in each of the different stories featured.
Seeing your name in print is really special. I’ve gotten used to having my words on the screen (for better or worse, really) and over the past two years have been insanely lucky to have those words spread across quite a few blogs + websites. I think the last time I saw my name in print was in a tiny publication at a town north of my college town, where I interned for a weekly newspaper. The fact that the intern, a senior in college, was able to publish local news just shows how small it was! But just being in the same room with journalists, designers, and publishers excited me. And now, remembering it, it was really so exciting seeing everything come together after finding or taking photos, conducting slightly awkward interviews with the locals, and crafting the perfect intro. Now having a piece in a publication that represents me so perfectly is quite the honor. Right down to the dusty purple cover and the fact that this is the autumn issue. Summer isn’t over yet but I can already tell what an amazing fall this will be!
You can actually preview the issue on the Stampington website but there really is nothing like seeing it in print and I hope you get the chance to check it out!
So cool! I need to see this!
I can’t think of anything more amazing than being published in the Stampington collection Angela!! What a beautiful and perfectly fitting accomplishment. You’ve worked SO hard since you’ve moved to California and I am constantly astonished by your work. Keep it up sweetie, you have a great mind and an amazing adventure ahead of you!!!
Thanks Janell!! It really is fitting, the magazine is exactly my favorite colors even, ha!
Hi Angela, I found your blog by way of Artful Blogging magazine. My blog is featured in this issue, too. I’m working my way through the magazine, reading essays and visiting accompanying blogs. I enjoyed your essay and my visit here. I love your focus on the process and your words really inspired me to share more about my journey and craft. Your confidence encourages me. There’s so much to read and learn here – I’ll be back soon. Now, I’ll head over to the Blog Market!
