Photo diary: San Francisco casual
Like I said in part one of my San Francisco travels, the two of us basically spent 24 hours walking the city. A skirt didn’t feel quite right for adventuring, denim was too hot, and I happily left the shorts behind that I live in at home because finally I was going somewhere below 80 degrees. I also bought this crop top, but it’s really too crop, so I had limited options for high-waisted bottoms. Thus these old printed pants came out of hibernation. I am not crazy for the fit. And the way the elastic fits is just a bit much for me. But, for wandering around the city streets: this was just right.
10 new ways to use washi tape + a DIY felt banner tutorial
I photographed some of my craft supplies the other day and it crossed my mind that I hadn’t used my washi tape in awhile. The problem is that when I searched on Google or Pinterest for washi tape DIYs, more of the same projects that I’ve seen ever since this fun stuff first blew up (thank you, Etsy), back in, what? 2011? So *finally* if you have a little collection to use up, you can get to crafting something new.

Because when you come back from a place—and here’s the part where it’s different for everyone but still universal—that you really feel you belong, at least for any moment of your life which could be just that day or two years or forever though it’s most likely not or even in memories real or made up (both truths), your location afterward is only that: a place.
Strawberry yogurt popsicles for the recipe challenged
Before this recipe, I hadn’t made homemade popsicles since I was about 8 years old and poured juice into ice trays and froze with toothpicks. That was the extent of my DIY dessert, and the extent of the summer desserts my mother made. The fact that these turned out is quite the win. Like my watermelon mojito recipe, I looked up a lot of very basic DIY popsicle tutorials and ended up winging it. Strawberries happened to be 97 cents a package and I had yogurt on hand, so this is what I ended up with. [Read more…] about Strawberry yogurt popsicles for the recipe challenged
How to convince yourself you can’t
Sometimes we can identify problems long before we have a grasp on their solutions. Sometimes we have a vague notion of those solutions–find motivation, find inspiration–yet action alludes us. Maybe it’s time to focus on the problems, not solutions. There are so many solutions floating around, it’s hard to catch them. So, a manifesto for knowing these facts yet fighting action, preserving inaction, convincing yourself once and for all that you can’t move forward with x, y, or z–
