i think it’s taken me until this year to be fully aware of how spring envelops los angeles. [Read more…] about Spring has sprung
#yearonpaper | 06: “just be yourself”
as you might’ve seen, i have a backlog of posts i want to share, including #yearonpaper entries. but i got stuck on where to go next, so i sort of avoided my journal for awhile. in forcing this entry, i landed on this phrase: be yourself. i realized that in very tiny ways, i haven’t been myself in a lot of instances lately. also, that i, in actuality, do in fact want to be myself. woah!
The florals are back
happy may! this might be the longest i’ve gone without a blog post in many months, but i think about this little blog every single day. i always take photos and have so much i want to post, and lately i haven’t even had time (mental time, really) to instagram, let alone write out something to go along with entire shoots. i’ve been wanting to improve my photo editing skills so i kind of put these off forever, but it’s finally time to share some of the places i’ve gone and thing’s i’ve worn over the last two months… i mean, i think i have photos from early march to share still. Sunset on March
march is a good month for LA. cool and crisp (with your expected 80 degree day mixed in), with a little (or a lot of) haze, good hikes, and blooms. everything here is in bloom. as much as southern california seems very much in a single state of sunny all year long, spring is when you really, truly start to wake up to all the plants and petals surrounding you. but more on that later. for now a sunset shoot on a particularly hazy day.
#yearonpaper | 05: solitude
night hikes are a big thing in los angeles and i’m not really for wandering the canyons in the dark but we went out one evening in a we-haven’t-exercised-today kinda moment and as it turns out it takes a lot longer than a sunset to wind your way back through a canyon. very worth it though with the city twinkling in the backdrop, the glow of the sun which never fully disappears beyond the horizon, and wildflowers all sprung up because southern california wastes no time when it comes to springing into the warmer months. i thought these iphone photos would be perfect to illustrate my latest journal entry on solitude. thoughts and prompts in the post! Conscious shop: natural beauty brands
wildflower night blossom perfume, rms bronzer, bar soap brooklyn, wash & stain bar, ilia balmy nights exfoliator, toothbrush, mullein & sparrow tinted lip & cheek balm, alima pure cloak & dagger collection, priti polish, siesta bath salts
i’ve been using the same makeup for what seems like years; each time i run out i quickly purchase the same foundation, mascara etc. while i have some very tried and true products i also love to try new natural beauty brands, especially with bath and body and skincare. (i also have a slight obsession with trying new lipstick shades, there are just so many out there!) beauty products also make wonderful gift ideas. it’s those things that lots of us probably wouldn’t splurge on ourselves but are always happy to receive. shop my current faves via the links above!
