3 rules for curating conscious home decor

September 11, 2015 by Angela

When I first moved I had one word on my mind: want. I wanted more home decor, a chair for my reading nook, a shelf to display my books—I had practical wants and not so practical wants. Being super picky, I didn’t end up purchasing a lot of those initial things, and over time I realized I wanted to be more intentional about how my home is set up. Being intentional is always a compromise because it means I can’t have everything at once—it’s a slow, steady process of curation. Through this process, I also learned that a lot of my wants fade over time. They’re really just that impulse brought on by an image on Pinterest or an online sale.

Time blocking vs. detailed prioritizing

September 8, 2015 by Angela

Time blocking + prioritizing / being efficient as a freelancer

I’ve written posts over on inspiring resources for self-employed creatives + freelancers, and I’ve read up on how to be efficient + productive. Time blocking has been the #1 method I’ve seen for freelancers to organize their day-to-day. It’s this idea that when you zero in on a high-priority project for x amount of time, you’ll be more focused and effective. You don’t switch gears every five seconds, you work the entire time period, whether it’s an hour or three hours. [Read more…] about Time blocking vs. detailed prioritizing

Conscious closet: end of summer neutrals

September 4, 2015 by Angela

Labor Day is on Monday and as much as I love that it’s a symbol of a brand new season, my favorite season (I don’t pick favorites often, but when I do, it’s about the weather), I just can’t start posting about fall fashion yet. It’s been a HOT summer in Los Angeles. We finally had a bit of cooler weather this week and all I wanted to do was be outside and enjoy it. Funny how when I lived in Washington it was sunny weather that got me outdoors and now it’s the opposite. Such is life.

Seattle in the Summer

September 1, 2015 by Angela

Oh September, I’m so glad you’re here. Even though it’s 90 degrees in Los Angeles, you will always be hot lattes and cinnamon spice and infinity scarves and falling leaves. I’m going to make it a point to seek all that out this season, no matter what.

Brands to check out on Curatorprints.com

August 25, 2015 by Angela

I love discovering new brands and websites via Instagram. Especially when I come across a gem like Curator Prints. This online shop features a curated collection of indie beauty, home, and fashion brands like Stop The Water While Using Me and Herbivore Botanicals. Not to mention that any shop selling Brooklyn Candle Studio has my heart. Curator Prints has minimal, modern product shots and their Instagram is a blend of New York lifestyle shots and killer flatlays, so they’ll appeal to your wander lusting design-aesthetic too. Always, always good.
