do you remember my watermelon mojitos for summer recipe i posted about this time last year? first of all, i’m so happy it’s summery cocktail season. even though really, i could’ve been drinking these all year long here. probably good that i haven’t been. but – 99% of my blog traffic is officially pointing to that post, so it reminded me how much fun i had making and photographing those. Edith Coco flowers
I haven’t done a Floral Friday post in quite some time, but I have definitely been making it a point to add more colorful florals and pretty plants in my apartment lately. Even though I have been known to kill even the most independent of plants—succulents and air plants—I’ll never stop trying.
Last month I got a lovely bouquet from a new floral delivery service here in Los Angeles, Edith Coco, thanks to the best gift giver ever, Crista Funk. It seems like everything has a delivery or subscription service these days, but I can’t think of anything better than having flowers hand picked and lovingly delivered to your doorstep! They really do hand deliver too, in a big metal bucket that you leave outside your door.

DIY hand painted journal
Two big things happened recently that I’m excited to share: 1) I thought of a name for the journaling community I’ll be starting up in the new year. But more on that later! and 2) I decided on a journal. I searched on Etsy, at Barnes and Noble (they have a huge selection of beautiful, thick journals, but none were for me), and even headed to the mall. Finally, I found the perfect journal. I wanted there to be a creative element because like I mentioned before, I like being able to mix media and add a craft element when I write too. This cover was the perfect canvas for some painting… [Read more…] about DIY hand painted journal
DIY holiday gift wrap
We got started on the holidays a little late this year, but with this DIY holiday gift wrap, they are officially here. After being in Seattle all of October and having lots to catch up on when I got back, November was a blur. On Saturday I woke up knowing we had to do something, so we drove back up to our old neighborhood, grabbed breakfast, and went to a tree lot to get the cutest, tiniest tree (photos to come!). I have mixed emotions about our apartment right now. We’ve had a love/hate relationship with it ever since moving in, for various reasons. With everything going on in the summer and fall, I didn’t finish decorating. So now that we put holiday decor up, it feels a bit cozier, though there isn’t that reading chair or bookshelf in the corner like I’d planned by now. [Read more…] about DIY holiday gift wrap
Winter tablescape idea from friendsgiving
Need an instant mood booster as a creative? Make something beautiful, and spend the afternoon photographing it. There’s really no better way to spend a day, particularly, a holiday. Charity invited us over to her house for Thanksgiving, where she had a new-old table to gather around, so we decided to put together a winter table for our friends. I wanted to craft all week long, but had *the worst* (I think I always say this) cold, which made me pretty useless until the day of. But everything came together with her decor, foraged pine cones (I’ll need to head into the woods sometime soon to get my own), our candle collections, and handmade napkins her mom mailed for us to use. 10 new ways to use washi tape + a DIY felt banner tutorial
I photographed some of my craft supplies the other day and it crossed my mind that I hadn’t used my washi tape in awhile. The problem is that when I searched on Google or Pinterest for washi tape DIYs, more of the same projects that I’ve seen ever since this fun stuff first blew up (thank you, Etsy), back in, what? 2011? I feel like everyone on the internet has tried them all. Luckily after searching more I found quite a lot of wonderful things to do with washi tape and the best part is that all these projects are from 2015 and most within the last month or two. So *finally* if you have a little collection to use up, you can get to crafting something new.
