Conscious shop / february edit

February 8, 2016 by Angela

pyrite cuff, metallic pouch, maxi dress, homecgoods candle, gold metal chair, bowl candles, darling print, table runner, zemen carryall, fortress cuff, aquamarine studs, recycled throw, dye kit, socks

i’ve been on the hunt for both clothes and housewares/home decor ever since the new year and have hardly found anything i’ve been looking for (with the exception of some new candles featured above) but i always come across so many things i want to bookmark for later. i thought it might be nice to do a little monthly edit of the neat products i come across. all from socially conscious or handmade shops of course. click the links above to check out each shop!

Edith Coco flowers

February 5, 2016 by Angela

I haven’t done a Floral Friday post in quite some time, but I have definitely been making it a point to add more colorful florals and pretty plants in my apartment lately. Even though I have been known to kill even the most independent of plants—succulents and air plants—I’ll never stop trying.

Last month I got a lovely bouquet from a new floral delivery service here in Los Angeles, Edith Coco, thanks to the best gift giver ever, Crista Funk. It seems like everything has a delivery or subscription service these days, but I can’t think of anything better than having flowers hand picked and lovingly delivered to your doorstep! They really do hand deliver too, in a big metal bucket that you leave outside your door.

Queen Bee Trading Co skincare from Etsy

January 25, 2016 by Angela

over the past few years i’ve transitioned to using mostly natural skincare and beauty products, and while it was a struggle to find product with minimal ingredients at first, i’m so grateful for the amazing brands that have become staples in my routine! one of my favorite places to experiment with new products is etsy (for just about anything). although you need to always read your labels and check your sources when you buy from anywhere, at least you can know that etsy is a place that many small businesses and ethical companies thrive. one of my all time favorite shops is queen bee trading co from here in the US.

Gift guide for the couch potato

December 14, 2015 by Angela

the root collective ballet flat, neutral zig zag throw pillow, hm conscious v-neck blouse, mint rose follain lip balm, aztec blanket in gray, sprig homestead tea tin candle, ethica black leggings, kaight alpaca throw, leif shimmer border scarf

Last week I saw an ad on Pinterest (ugh, ya know?) for a cozy fashion gift guide that in essence meant couch potato. Of course it was some big brand and definitely not anyone who promotes shopping small or sustainable fashion, so instead of giving them my click I decided to make my own. I think this is the most fun I’ve ever had creating a gift guide. And I’ve created a lot of gift guides over the years. While working from home has had its major ups and downs lately, one major plus is getting to stay cozy inside whenever I want. I personally need a bit more structure when I work from home, so being locked inside has been a big struggle, but what I really appreciate is that when I’m not feeling at 100%, I don’t have to fake my way through a workday or anything. I still have to get stuff done, but I can do it from underneath a pile of cozy blankets (and my two kitties). Do I sound crazy yet?

Lee Coren Studio by Aya Wind95

If you’ve shopped on Etsy for awhile, you may have seen Tel Aviv designer Lee Coren‘s products pop up every now and then. I know her landscape clutch as been on my favorites list for way too long now. Lee has owned her textile business for three years now, an accessories line that’s designed, sourced, and crafted locally and ethically. Today she’s sharing a peek into her creative studio by Aya Wind + a few amazing bags from her current collections. Take a look… [Read more…] about Found: Lee Coren handmade bags + accessories

100 places to shop small for gifts online

November 20, 2015 by Angela

Shopping season is here! I love it. I love it so much that as a kid I used to pretend I ran a gift shop and could find gifts for my family whenever I wanted. (Yeeeah.) But nowadays I’m at odds with myself because as much as I love shopping, I want to make conscious decisions with my purchases. Everything makes an impact, and I want to be sure that impact is on the positive side. Well, living consciously doesn’t mean avoiding gift giving or sale shopping completely. It just means rethinking how you do it. I don’t think I’ll ever stop decorating for Christmas or handpicking (or making) meaningful gifts for my friends and family. It’s a gesture that’s as nice to give as it is to get, and there’s definitely value (the non-$$$ kind) in that! So I rounded up a huge list of 100 of my personal favorite online destinations for gift giving this season (and all year). [Read more…] about 100 places to shop small for gifts online
