Peonies & dahlias & inspiring weekend links

July 10, 2015 by Angela

dahlia & peony bouquet | iffoundmake. com

My most recent farmers market bouquet is made up of two favorites: dahlias + peonies. Dahlias are difficult to care for and my air plants are hardly thriving so I think I will wait until I know a little more about floral before I go with them again, but aren’t they beautiful? I decided along with #flowerfriday I’d share some links like last week, that inspired and intrigued over the last few days.

20 things to write about this month // 2

July 6, 2015 by Angela

creative-nonfiction-writing-prompts

Last month my writing prompts post was a lot more focused; the ideas were based off of the month of June itself and what it evokes. Not every writing ideas list will be so seasonal. I don’t have a single muse for these. Actually, I came up with a lot of these while doing the five minute rule to jumpstart my thinking. Whether you blog what comes from these prompts, journal, or carry them with you to another project, I hope you get a chance to try a few. Onto the prompts…

How to get started on creative goals

July 3, 2015 by Angela

how to let go and get started on achieving your creative goals | weekend inspiration | iffoundmake.com

I thought I’d switch this week’s #flowerfriday post for a few inspiring links. In between indulging in 4th of July desserts and heading to the beach, it’s nice to walk into the month feeling ready to attack your goals. Lately what’s on my mind is the difference between dreaming + doing. If you’ve read The War of Art and felt like yeah! this is totally me! totally my problem! and then went back to your old ways, you’ll relate. We have so many great resources up weekly on The Blog Market, it made sense to post the ones that really fit with me + what I’m currently doing/struggling with/inspired by here. More often than we think, we could use the reenforcement that it’s okay to jump in and get started: we don’t have to be 100% organized or have a distinct plan. These little reminders are essential.

My photography gear on The Blog Market

April 29, 2015 by Angela

Best Cameras for Bloggers

Just popping into say I wrote way too many words on my favorite photography gear over on The Blog Market today. Head over to see my fave camera, lenses, and a little bit about my obsession with my iPhone 6. I couldn’t even get into editing, but maybe one day. If you’ve got a must-have camera or lens, please add!

Do you need a creative space to work well?

December 5, 2014 by Angela

Do you need a creative space to work well?

From creating a tranquil space out of Ikea furniture in my childhood bedroom after moving home from college to going from loving to loathing my LA apartment after the transition from office jobs to work-at-home, I’ve always tried to work my way around environmental circumstances beyond my control. I can’t tell you how many hours I’ve spent scouring Craigslist hoping to even come across a dream creative studio—no matter that I’d never be able to afford one—or the time logged on Pinterest searching terms like “exposed brick” and “light space”, “white walls”, etc.

5 ways to spark creativity

5 ways to spark creativity
It seems like everything comes in fives lately. We can’t always control when we feel ready to tackle creative projects. For me, it’s a huge struggle because I need to bring my best ideas at work, and, I need other, separate, good ideas for my blog, shops, and a little thing I went to college for: creative writing/storytelling. Sometimes it’s more exhausting than liberating, but like they say: I wouldn’t have it any other way.
The passing of Maya Angelou reminds me more than ever just how much ONE person can do in a lifetime. Everything I want to do in life (cue big, sweeping statement) is defined in one word, creativity. This has helped me get and stay creative in my 24 years of being inspired by wonderful and surprising things:
