Yesterday I had to take a single photo for a blog post and being away from my little space, it reminded me how difficult “working from anywhere” can be. But as the light wouldn’t cooperate, and my backgrounds wouldn’t blur just right, I called it quits for the afternoon. Daylight had almost faded entirely, and as I went to get something from the car, I remembered something I’d been wanting to do: photograph the spiderwebs in the yard. I don’t know why they’re here, and it makes me jumpy when I walk through the driveway, but spiderwebs are all. over. the. yard. right now. Each one of them a home for another’s relative.
Unwilling to get to close with my 50mm, I didn’t get spectacular photos of the webs themselves, but the spiders were about for the night, inching along their threads. I screamed more than once. After I got inside, I went to take my days old farmers market dahlia bouquet (as explained in this post, these little buds never had a chance) out. These blooms, past their prime, embarrassingly so for a countertop, looked so beautiful I thought I’d try again. And as the 50 often does, it surprised me with its ability to effortlessly filter in what remained of the day’s light. Perfect time to experiment with VSCO Lightroom. I added the soft light filter and completed the story. I never did get that first photo right!
Have you taken any pictures lately?

Angela I love the photography in this post! It is absolutely stunning. I love the idea of taking pictures of the spider webs, it definitely fits in with the October feels and Halloween!

I got a new phone recently (samsung galaxy) and am so excited about it’s camera… it’s not quite as good as the iphone, but better than the silly phone I had before…
As much as I love being able to randomly snap *good* pictures with it, I still find that I prefer to use the Nikon for shop/blog photos… and it’s so true, it’s all about the lighting…
These pictures turned out great, none the less Angela! 🙂
