Picnic at the park

Is it still considered a picnic if all you bring is a blanket and wine?

this outfit isn’t anything to write home about, but it’s my non-summer wardrobe in a nutshell. i’ve gotten very used to unreasonably hot days here, and denim cutoffs and a ribbed tank became my sorry excuse for style. but this year has been a little different, not so hot. yet, instead of wearing the pretty dresses cozied up against one another on my mint ikea clothing rack, here i am: flannel, t-shirt, boots, and bag.

i don’t mind it. it IS the comfiest way you can present yourself, aside from wearing actual sweats in public. plus, the black skinny pants are a relatively recent thrifty find, and i need to acquaint them with my well worn flannel and booties.

the bag. a birthday gift. it’s the meles leather handbag from fashionABLE, a brand i’ve long admired. i’ve never ever had a go-to black bag. it feels all Real Adult. always an oversized tote or impractically small clutch. now that i have a backpack, i don’t really need the giant laptop-size bag. so practicality wins and i got the ultimate crossbody. i love it to death.

it’s much smaller than i’m used to but it fits the essentials: phone, camera, notebook, ipad, and way too many lipsticks in far too similar shades.

oh, and the wine.

we’re trying to make picnicing more of a regular thing. it’s silly that it’s not. all you need is a dry patch of grass, a blanket, and someone to talk to. check, check, check.
