Oh September, I’m so glad you’re here. Even though it’s 90 degrees in Los Angeles, you will always be hot lattes and cinnamon spice and infinity scarves and falling leaves. I’m going to make it a point to seek all that out this season, no matter what.
…from my visit to the Northwest last month. I explored Seattle neighborhoods I hadn’t seen in a year, wandered all over the eastside, and even drank tea from a cafe while watching the rain softly drizzle outside. So very Seattle. In related news, I’ve been in my head way too much over the last month. Luckily, while at Yellow Conference last week, I allowed myself to be reminded of things I’d wanted to do all along: to work hard, yet be easier on myself; to stop squandering joy (though no one specifically mentioned Brene Brown, I feel like each and every speaker built off her research in some way) which is a habit of mine; to dedicate time to the process, rather than looking for a specific passion or calling (it’s much more productive to just work it out as you go). And a quote from one of the lovely ladies’ grandmother: work harder on yourself than your job. This is much harder than a job, even. And I find that if you are working harder on your job, perhaps it’s to distract from the task at hand. Lastly: life ain’t always how it looks on Instagram. Always remember that!
