happy may! this might be the longest i’ve gone without a blog post in many months, but i think about this little blog every single day. i always take photos and have so much i want to post, and lately i haven’t even had time (mental time, really) to instagram, let alone write out something to go along with entire shoots. i’ve been wanting to improve my photo editing skills so i kind of put these off forever, but it’s finally time to share some of the places i’ve gone and thing’s i’ve worn over the last two months… i mean, i think i have photos from early march to share still. 5 ways to have the perfect fall day
The more I read (and write) about self care and the importance of doing you when you need to, it seems, the less I take care of myself. I can write about it all day, and I can even put off those anxiety-inducing projects in the name of “needing time” (which only makes it worse, I admit), but taking actual steps to incorporate regular self care (and just plain happiness) into my day is quite a lot harder than it seems. In coming across a lot of cozy fall wonderfulness that I totally want to indulge in this season (and in working on Moorea Seal’s 52 Lists Projects which really opened my eyes to the simple things I don’t spend nearly enough time enjoying), I decided to put together a few ideas for treating yourself this fall. I hope you’ll pick one (or 5) and go for it! [Read more…] about 5 ways to have the perfect fall day
Conscious closet: end of summer neutrals
Labor Day is on Monday and as much as I love that it’s a symbol of a brand new season, my favorite season (I don’t pick favorites often, but when I do, it’s about the weather), I just can’t start posting about fall fashion yet. It’s been a HOT summer in Los Angeles. We finally had a bit of cooler weather this week and all I wanted to do was be outside and enjoy it. Funny how when I lived in Washington it was sunny weather that got me outdoors and now it’s the opposite. Such is life.
Brands to check out on Curatorprints.com
I love discovering new brands and websites via Instagram. Especially when I come across a gem like Curator Prints. This online shop features a curated collection of indie beauty, home, and fashion brands like Stop The Water While Using Me and Herbivore Botanicals. Not to mention that any shop selling Brooklyn Candle Studio has my heart. Curator Prints has minimal, modern product shots and their Instagram is a blend of New York lifestyle shots and killer flatlays, so they’ll appeal to your wander lusting design-aesthetic too. Always, always good.
Photo diary: San Francisco casual
Like I said in part one of my San Francisco travels, the two of us basically spent 24 hours walking the city. A skirt didn’t feel quite right for adventuring, denim was too hot, and I happily left the shorts behind that I live in at home because finally I was going somewhere below 80 degrees. I also bought this crop top, but it’s really too crop, so I had limited options for high-waisted bottoms. Thus these old printed pants came out of hibernation. I am not crazy for the fit. And the way the elastic fits is just a bit much for me. But, for wandering around the city streets: this was just right.
