i’ve lived in california for almost three years now, kind of unbelievable. there’s always something to do in this state. always, always. in this region even. this year i finally made it out to the famous carlsbad flower fields. ranunculus is one of my favorite flowers (well, mine and everyone else’s) so it’s a wonder it took two years to get here! Around the city, DTLA
An unsuspecting Verve coffee shop underneath a curious vintage sign.
it’s the nature of social media. once you start taking photos on your phone where ever you go, whether for a client or just that perfect instagram, you start to do it, assignment or not. i used to take my camera everywhere, and little adventures like all the happenings a couple weekends ago reminded me just why. there’s always more to see, even on the streets you roam time and time again. Edith Coco flowers
I haven’t done a Floral Friday post in quite some time, but I have definitely been making it a point to add more colorful florals and pretty plants in my apartment lately. Even though I have been known to kill even the most independent of plants—succulents and air plants—I’ll never stop trying.
Last month I got a lovely bouquet from a new floral delivery service here in Los Angeles, Edith Coco, thanks to the best gift giver ever, Crista Funk. It seems like everything has a delivery or subscription service these days, but I can’t think of anything better than having flowers hand picked and lovingly delivered to your doorstep! photo diary: glimmer of home
Yesterday I had to take a single photo for a blog post and being away from my little space, it reminded me how difficult “working from anywhere” can be. But as the light wouldn’t cooperate, and my backgrounds wouldn’t blur just right, I called it quits for the afternoon. Photo diary: The conservatory of flowers
Fear is a funny thing. It envelops you at once, holds you tight, then lets you go as quickly as it came. Anxiousness, which can come before fear or even without, has a steady hold on your wrist. Generally not enough to completely stop you from going about your day. But just enough to make it hard to pick up and put things together, to get places. Sometimes, the anxiousness is worse, or rather, more affective, than the fear because like a bandage, the fear will be ripped off and discarded. Anxiety of fear is really a double threat, because you spend all this time anxiously awaiting the fear of the experience.
Flower friday: Peony season
If you follow me on Instagram, you probably know that I’ve been obsessing over my first bundle of peonies this season. This is the one flower that not only puts a smile on my face but always amazes me when I walk into the room. Their blooms are that dramatic.
Pretty pretty. But the morning after I took these photos, they were even larger…
Just one left behind. I don’t think that little stem got enough water. Hoping to have more of a study to share on next week’s flowers: details and inspiration.
