if you’re following my posts over on The Blog Market, you might’ve seen my studio progress. i’ve thrown myself into making this space a real studio in the past month. i’ve had it for over a year but i didn’t know quite where to start, plus for awhile i thought we might move. but! no matter when that happens, it always helps to be surrounded by inspiring things.

On working through anxiety when you’re busy

The hardest part of freelancing so far has been working through all new kinds of anxiety that I hadn’t really faced before. I’ve tested out just about every self help method (and a few “professional” ones) for anxiety in my life too. I’ve allowed myself to be me and get to know my reactions during high anxiety moments which I know a lot of people don’t really give themselves time to do. 3 steps to a more effective to-do list

Like I said in my post about prioritizing as a freelancer, I’ve been going back to basics lately in how I organize my day. A simple to do list has proven the most effective for actually getting stuff done—not dreaming or planning or goal setting, but actually doing the work. Of course, I’ve learned the hard way (if only you could see the amount of notebooks I’ve filled with incomplete to dos, sorry paper) that not all lists are effective. Assuming you create your list at the beginning of each day and prioritize that list based on deadlines and urgency, this 3-step process will guarantee a much more effective to-do than both a post-it and your most intricate planner.
