Call it a side effect of working in social media, but essentially every time I leave the house now, it’s second nature to take my iPhone out and document what I see. Lately I’ve zeroed in on my projects a bit more, and don’t need quite *all* the photos I end up with. Take the events I went to last weekend, for example. Hanging out with Charity who actually had been photographing one of our festivities for work, I just couldn’t put away the camera myself. Might as well share ’em if I have ’em, right? Anyway. Holiday activities are seriously the best. I feel so warm and happy when enveloped in the merriment. Living 1200 miles away from my entire family and many people I’m close with, I have to make an effort to get in the holiday spirit. Especially with the bursts of 80 degree weather sprinkled throughout the months. Charity and I both are in the same boat when it comes to far away families and missing the PNW this time of year, but our date spent painting the town red (and green) definitely helped. endless LA summer + recent style
I came across HeyGirlMarket back in June and thought their jewelry + accessories were so fun I did a little roundup here on the blog. Their bright colors and beadwork were too perfect for summer. Lucky for me, it’s summer basically all the time, so when I got a chance to try one of their bracelets, it wasn’t hard to wear it out, even in late September. And if it’s actual fall where you live, a bracelet like this would be perfect for a neutrals-only outfit, even if it’s not so sunny.

Photo diary: along Highway 1
found: Hancock Park, Los Angeles
The first photos I take with a new camera are always a little less frame-worthy, a little ordinary, like trying to see the same things I always see from a fresh perspective. Details. I always want to capture the details. On this joyous occasion… Our first evening walk with the new camera in hand… We wandered LA’s Hancock Park for a bit (a historic, wealthy neighborhood lined with oversized houses and a few too many green lawns). Then we stumbled into Larchmont (because, Salt & Straw) and continued our walk in the other direction.
Last week, LA’s March felt like Seattle’s May. Crisp and cool with hints of spring. I realized no matter how different the weather here is than basically anywhere else, those hints at new life aren’t lost.
What have you been up to? Any adventures lately?

Valentine’s Day in Los Angeles
Last week we took a mini trip to Palm Springs to unwind a bit (which I require every few months or so, and wish everyone the same), so Valentine’s Day was more of an afterthought. We had an apartment viewing in the morning (and there will be many more, I think) and decided to walk around the neighborhoods a bit. Alfred Coffee is on Melrose Place (and in Brentwood, I’ve never been) and it’s every bit as trendy as you have probably seen on your LA-based friends’ Instagrams. They serve Stumptown coffee which is the best coffee. And now, they have Compartes Chocolates tucked away downstairs. We splurged on a couple chocolate bars in the name of Valentine’s Day (my choice based off packaging and his off flavor; his was better) and continued our apartment search (to no avail)…
And so you see our desire to splurge?
Donuts and coffee… Yes, yes.
How was your Valentine’s?
