Need an instant mood booster as a creative? Make something beautiful, and spend the afternoon photographing it. There’s really no better way to spend a day, particularly, a holiday. Charity invited us over to her house for Thanksgiving, where she had a new-old table to gather around, so we decided to put together a winter table for our friends. I wanted to craft all week long, but had *the worst* (I think I always say this) cold, which made me pretty useless until the day of. But everything came together with her decor, foraged pine cones (I’ll need to head into the woods sometime soon to get my own), our candle collections, and handmade napkins her mom mailed for us to use.
How so many little things come together for one look amazes me every time. For my job, I write about stunning collaborations all day long, and every time I see the finished products, I’m blown away. It’s nice to be there in-person, creating.
Luckily for those of us not super well-versed in table design, this is a simple one to pull off, intimate gathering or not. A kraft paper table runner, rosemary sprigs, and taper candles brought it together.
After setting up + photographing, we finished prepping the meal. Seriously, that table would have been just as empty during dinner if we didn’t have Charity somehow managing ten things at once. I don’t think I’ve ever experienced a holiday with no kitchen disasters, but I definitely prefer it that way.
Afterward: laughing by candle light, old board games, pie-eating, and movie watching.
How was your Thanksgiving? This whole month has so many good, festive happenings. There are parties, more holiday markets, and a road trip up the coast, on the agenda. It’s just what I need after a slow, strange, transition into the season.
